Chapter 23:

All he could think was to wrap his arms around her and close all the distance between them but he controlled his urge…..He didn’t even want to kiss her in the spur of the moment….He knew she might just give in to him but he was sure that she would regret later which he didn’t want….He would never regret anything but not her….He wanted to give her all the time she required in this relationship…..He wouldn’t tempt or force her into anything impulsively….He realized that the magical passion which was catching up on them was a bit dangerous….He couldn’t let it take over his senses…he had to put it off soon….so he spoke up, “Lets go out somewhere…..We can have dinner on our way back….”

She was enjoying the peace she felt when close to him…..She didn’t want to break that moment but then she hummed, “hmmm”

He didn’t have a particular place in mind when he proposed of the plan to go out but Arjun just drove away. He just needed some get away from that situation. He couldn’t go out of control and do anything crazy with her. 

Moreover, in her company, the place they could go seemed irrelevant. He knew he was crazily in love with her and she was going to be his girl some day…but to keep himself silent and his hands off her was the biggest challenge he was facing ever since she decided to give them a chance and tonight was no different.

The long drive and romantic music was having its effect on him but the lady beside him, she seemed totally inscrutable. He couldn’t gauge what she was feeling. Was she enjoying this lone time with him or was she still in denial or perhaps in Sameer mode? He was a little apprehensive to ask or even start a topic.

The song brought her out of her thoughts and she couldn’t stop herself from turning to his side. His gaze was already resting on her occasionally and their eyes met for a brief moment before she snapped away and he also focused back on the road.

He whistled the tune and she had to accept that she loved it. When he stopped, she turned to him, “It was good……”

Arjun smiled at the first compliment from her and he was also happy that she started the conversation this time. He was silently waiting for it to happen that way and he replied, “You liked it?”

She nodded, “hmmm…..accha tha….why did you stop it?”

He chuckled and his naughty self was out, “doctor ji, poore drive pe sirf yahi kartha rahoom kya?” 

She couldn’t help laughing and her laugh was so mesmerizing that he had already stopped the car by the side and his gaze settled on her pretty face. Oblivious to the effect she and her laugh made on him, she continued smiling. Only when his palm cupped her hand, did she realize that and he voiced, “We do have better things to do, right?”

Reva shuddered at the intimate way he engulfed her hands and slightly nudged her fingers…..It triggered off something inside her….a sensual feeling which always appeared far fetched for her…..It confused her and also left her bewildered about how Arjun was able to do it to her so easily and within a short time of knowing each other….His soft and romantic voice and his naughty line wasn’t making it any better for her. She was forced to look into his deep intense eyes and she was just struck there….she couldn’t deny the strong attraction she felt for the guy next to her. He was indeed drawing her closer and tugging her heart deeply with his magical charms.

When he felt that he could be scaring her away with all this, he quickly pointed to the window, “jaise Dinner?? I am damn hungry”

She snapped out of the moment and looked to the direction he pointed. That’s when she realized that they were in the parking lot of a restaurant…

She nodded with a faint smile, “ohhh….”. A relief or was it a disappointment which surged inside her….she didn’t know which feeling was more. She tried to rubbish the feeling by commenting on the choice of the restaurant, “Arjun, yeh toh South Indian restaurant hai….but you prefer north Indian na?”

Arjun smiled and replied taking his hands off hers, “I know south Indian is your favorite cuisine Reva…..aur aaj officially humaara pehla dinner date hai…..I had to do something special for you but kuch aur karne keliye time nahi milaa….sudden plan tha na? Atleast food toh tumaara favorite hona chahiye…itna toh kar hi saktha hoom…..”

He noticed her glance on her hand from where he had taken his hands off….something told him that she had quite liked him holding her hand….perhaps her expressions said it all…She voiced, “Arjun….itna formal hone ki….”

He snapped her short there with a chuckle and then in a serious tone, he voiced intently looking at her, “formality ki baat nahi baat zaroorat ki hai doctor…..aise baaton ka koyi khaas reason nahi hota.....We need to just go with the flow……wahi humein aur khareeb laayega…[he leaned as if to kiss her cheeks but stopped a little short when he saw her moving her head away….he hadn’t anyways intended to kiss her…..so he just stopped and voiced]..samjhe ya samjhaavum?”

She didn’t argue further but just nodded…..He stepped out and came to her side but she had got off without waiting for him…He smiled at her before asking her to lead the way, “after you”

She started walking towards the entrance and he sprinted to join her side…..He didn’t ask but just entwined his fingers with hers and dragged her closer…She was stunned but didn’t protest it but just decided to let go…..She should have freed her hands from his but she couldn’t…it felt so right and meant to be…

Arjun didn’t have any special liking for south Indian but today he let her decide for him…..

“Are your sure Arjun?” Reva enquired again when he held the menu card to her and asked her to order for him as well…

Arjun nodded with a wide smile and naughtily commented, “Yup…mere life hi tumaare haathon mein hai doctor…then whats the big deal about dinner? I am sure I will love your choices”

His naughty line trying to woo her made her blush a little and also smile. But she replied, “phir bhi….I suggest…”

He placed his hand on hers, “I insist you do it for me…”

There were no ifs and buts after that….she pulled her hand slowly from under his as it was having a strange effect on her….she did it pretending that she couldn’t hold the menu card with just the other hand but then he was quick to understand the real reason.

Her smiles, her shying away, her protests, her half hearted denials….her soft gestures and talks were all making him crazy…..He inhaled deeply and ran his fingers across his hair as an attempt to hide the impact she had on him.

She was busy ordering the food and he wasn’t able to take his eyes off her. He was glancing and understanding even the slightest nuances and expressions she showed……he found even the silliest gestures cute…When she made a mistake or a slip of tongue, she bit her nails and pouted….She crunched her perky nose when she disapproved of something and her eyes had a twinkle when she was excited about something…..While in deep thoughts, she bit her lips and her fingers played with her curls….…Unaware of her, he understood every single bit of her….When she bit her lips, he had a tough time controlling himself from stopping her do that….He smacked and grinned at his own thoughts when he felt sad for the hurt she was causing to her lovely lips…..Werent they mine? How could she so mercilessly hurt them?

She on the other hand was trying her best to keep the feelings and sensations that he evoked within her under control…She had noticed his eyes on her but was trying not to get affected by it…she tried to talk but soon felt tongue tied as their gazes met…..

The food arrived soon snapping him out of his study of his doctor saahiba and every minute detail of hers….She also was saved from the eyelock which was making her feel strange and weird…

They started to have dinner…..She didn’t look up from her plate until absolutely necessary…Perhaps love had an effect on his taste buds also. He took an instant liking to the dosa she ordered for him….she had opted for masala dosa…..He didn’t think twice before taking a piece of it from her plate surprising her totally….After that, she decided not to get surprised by his actions…..She was slowly trying to expect the unexpected from him….atleast that much she learnt about him in these few hours….

She was never the kind who liked sudden plans, sudden surprises and unexpected behavior from anybody….She was always the type who loved to follow a time table, a convention and always plan things ahead….. But with him, she surprised herself as she kind of started liking this behavior of his.

He was also happy as for the first time, he felt that she was moving out of the confines which she had built around her….She was trying to let go and to top it all, she hadn’t spoken anything about Sameer all through the evening which was by itself a good sign…

The dessert she ordered was unusual or rather unique like her….a filter coffee and he let go of his other choices and went with the same……

As they got back into the car, he commented, “I told you na…I am going to like this dinner…It was awesome….the dessert was the best”

She looked to his side acknowledging the praise he was showering on her choices. 

That’s when his gaze wandered all over her face starting from her beautiful deep dark eyes…It stopped at her full luscious lips….He couldn’t take his eyes off as the desire to kiss her soared up but he also couldn’t do it without her will….

A little while before at the restaurant, the foam of the coffee which settled on her lips and above that had attracted his attention…He had longed to wipe it away from there and more than that, he had desired to kiss it away from there…..The memory of that lusty thought came back running to his mind…well it wasn’t just lust perhaps…

He fully turned to her side and voiced in a lost dream like tone, “You made my evening special Reva….Will you make it more special and most memorable?”

 She didn’t understand that and so just looked at him enquiringly and waited for him to say what he expected from her
